Look what we can create together!
My latest podcast conversation with Edona Emilie Arnesen is many wonderful things- one of which is that this episode is a real testament to emergence! In October 2024 I had the best time traveling to Oslo, Norway to attend the Systemic Design Association's Relating Systems Thinking and Design Conference. This was my first time attending an in-person conference and I feel so grateful that my first experience was so incredibly positive.
RSD13 made me feel like I was back in school ... in a good way! I came to realize how transformative and generative it was to be in a space where everyone is showing up in a learning posture. It felt like a solid week of the same feeling I get when I record a conversation for SLST- I feel energized by the exchange of ideas, the sharing of stories, and the building of relationships.
Edona Emilie Arnesen is one of the many lovely people I connected with at RSD13. And out of that connection- punctuated by the uncertain question I posed after just a few moments of speaking ... "do you have any interest in being on a podcast?"- comes this conversation! Her presentation, titled, "Regeneration Through Relationality: Re-socializing systems of food provision for ecological regeneration," immediately peaked my curiosity (which, again, was already at an all time high in this great learning space!) as Edona went on share stories that beautifully illustrated the need for local, relational solutions to food systems that are "a reason for so many of the massive problems we are facing as a global society today," which can also "really be a huge solution area as well."
I am thrilled to present this episode as the next turn in my inquiry into systemic thinking and design. You can count on more turns as I explore further the relationship between systems thinking and CMM, in the form of more podcast episodes inspired by my time at RSD13, including conversations with Josina Vink, Karina Solsø, and Dr Rachel Lilley. So excited to share these generative conversations with you!

And if you can, please take a moment to comment here or under the episode on Substack, and add your own turn into the conversation! I've already offered one prompt in the show notes of the episode: "How can we design in ways that are 'conducive to life'?"
